Newsletter: Selections from Emails, Meetings, and More

November 2009

Introduction

Welcome to a CFSupport Newsletter!  To receive our emails and news items as they happen rather then wait until they've been compiled into a newsletter, please join our Yahoo! Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CFSupport. You can set you subscription to "Special Notices" only if you prefer to receive no email and read items on the Yahoo website. Only leaders can post, and we keep the number of emails to less than one per day on average.

As a member of our CFSupport Yahoo group, you would be able to browse and search our archives, view our Calendar, download files, use our rideshare database as well as receive current updates of interest regarding CFS/CFIDS (chronic fatigue syndrome), FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome), ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis), OI (orthostatice intolerance including POTS and NMH), and more.

Please visit About Us for more introduction, or check out the  Newsletter Directory or  Home.

This Month: Nov 2009

Michael Jawer is our speaker for the November 21 meeting in Chantilly. He is the author of The Spiritual Anatomy of Emotion: How Feelings Link the Brain, the Body, and The Sixth Sense.

In a recent interview on BeliefNet, Mike answered the second question using CFS and synesthesia as examples. Some people in our support group, many people with CFS and FM and Dysautonomia, provided data to him via a survey about sensitivities. He is still accepting more responses. To see his questionnaire as a PDF, fill it out, and send to him, see his website http://www.emotiongateway.com/pages/sensitivity/survey.

"COMING FROM A PLACE OF CURIOSITY"

by Virginia D Mitchell, Lac, MAc, Dip’l Ac
703-421-1300
www.VirginiaBodywork.com

COMING FROM A PLACE OF CURIOSITY
PAIN/SUFFERING
PHENOMENA/LABELS
CAN A PERSON DIE WHOLE?  IF SO, WHAT WILL TAKE TO LIVE WHOLE?
ACTING ON YOUR OWN BEHALF
RESPONSE FROM A PLACE OF HABIT OR UNCONCIOUSNESS=REACTION
RESPONSE FROM A PLACE OF OBSERVATION = CHOICE

IN MAKING A CHOICE, DOES THE OPTION LEAVE YOU FEELING MORE OPEN AND RELAXED (SPACIOUS) OR CLOSED DOWN, TRAPPED, STRESSED

IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE PUTTING SOMETHING INTO WORDS SWITCH TO COLOR, MOVEMENT OR SOME OTHER SENSE

AWARENESS JOURNAL VIA BETSY BAKER

THREE TIMES A DAY (FIRST THING, MIDDLE OF DAY, CLOSE OF DAY) CHECK IN WITH YOURSELF IN THREE WAYS

BODY WHAT IS GOING ON AT WHAT LEVEL (1-10)
MIND WHAT IS YOUR INNER DIALOGUE
EMOTIONS HOW ARE YOU FEELING (1-10)

DO THIS FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN LOOK FOR PATTERNS.  IF YOU SEE A PATTERN WHAT NEW INFORMATION DOES IT GIVE YOU?  DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A CHANGE BASED ON THE  INFORMATION.  ENACT THE CHANGE FOR A MONTH THEN REPEAT THE STEPS.

AND REMEMBER, DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU THINK.

Global News:

The ME/CFS Pocket Money Research Fund

From PocketMoneyFund.org

If we have learned nothing else, it's clear that our governmental agencies don't yet feel the need to fund research commensurate to the need for help. So, like the other burdens we must bear . . . it falls to us to help ourselves.

Fortunately, all it takes is a little pocket money. Every dollar raised by the ME/CFS Pocket Money Research Fund will be distributed by its Scientific Committee, a world renown group of the leading scientists in the study of ME/CFS consisting of Dr. Jonathan Kerr of The United Kingdom, Dr. Nancy Klimas, of the United States, Dr. John Gow of Scotland, Dr. Lucinda Bateman of the United States and Dr. Derek Enlander of Northern Ireland.

Each member of the scientific committee has graciously donated his or her time to this  campaign and serves without compensation. Every six months they will decide on the research projects to be supported by the fund. There are, however, strict limitations on the amount of funding they can give to their own projects.

To donate now using Paypal, clicking the image below.

If you prefer to write a check, make the check payable to The ME/CFS Pocket Money Research Fund and mail it to: The ME/CFS Pocket Money Fund, c/o Seacoast National Bank, 3001 PGA Boulevard, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410 USA

The ME/CFS Pocket Money Research Fund was initially developed by cfsKnowledgeCenter, Inc., a Florida Not for Profit 501c3 organization. Donations are tax deductible in the United States. Please check local laws in other countries. All revenue collected by the fund is deposited in an interest bearing account for the exclusive use of the M.E./CFS Pocket Money Research Fund at The Seacoast National Bank of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

All activities of the fund are monitored by the ME/CFS Pocket Money Fund Executive Committee consisting of Mr. Daniel Moricoli of Wellington, Florida, U.S.A. and Founder of the ME-CFSCommunity website and Mrs. Lydia Neilson of Nepean, Ontario, Canada and Founder of The National ME/FM Action Network. The members of the Executive Committee are donating their time to this endeavor and serve without any form of compensation. The ME/CFS Pocket Money Fund logo was designed by Sebastián Chico of Argentina.

One More Thing:

The federal CFS Advisory Committee (CFSAC) met Oct. 28-29, 2009 in Washington, D.C. to hear agency updates, important presentations by Dr. Daniel Peterson (Whittemore-Peterson Institute), Dr. John Coffin (Tufts University and National Cancer Institute) and Dr. David Bell. The committee made several important recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Click here for the recap and links to other resources from The CFIDS Association of America.

A videocast of the 2-day meeting of the CFSAC meeting is now available. You will need to download a (free) copy of RealPlayer to view it. The meeting agenda helps locate specific presentations/discussions.
